Guvernul armean susține că aceste procese sunt folosite ca instrument de presiune politică și manipulare socială. Protestatarii din Armenia au ieșit în stradă, cerând eliberarea lui Ruben Vardanyan și a altor armeni reținuți în Azerbaidjan. Problema rămâne extrem de sensibilă, cu tensiuni între cele două națiuni care continuă să escaladeze. Armenia insistă că acțiunile Azerbaidjanului încalcă drepturile omului și normele legale internaționale.
